Words of thanks -Tribute to VS-
Today, I donned the Victoria School uniform for the last time. You have no idea how meaningful these 4 years I spent in VS are. When I first entered VS, I never harboured much hope in having much fun. It was merely another stepping stone for me to get into VJC, or so I thought. I have learnt alot of things in VS during these 4 years and had my fair share of fun. Thank You VS !
First thanks to my lower secondary class to help me adapt to the new surroundings. Though some of you left for the V-IP in sec2, nonetheless, you guys have been a great companion in the past year. Not forgetting the VS Library, a big thanks to the Library staff, seniors and juniors. I still remembered how enthusiastic I was in my library duties when i first joined VS Library and I never knew the meaning of the word "slack". Many condemn Library Council as a slack CCA and only nerds will join. Well that is certainly not the truth. We are no different from any other CCAs, only that we learn different skills in the Library Council. I would certainly miss the friendly smiles of the teacher librarians at the counter. Thank You all !
Also not forgetting to remember one of our lost Victorians along the way, Wrixon. I have hoped that the class of 07 would be complete, but it was truly a pity that you left this world. I'm sure that you will also be proud of our achievements wherever you are.
Last but not the least, its the class of 4A'07 I would like to thank. You guys have been great buddies for the 2 years spent together. I would think we are the only class that dared to play bridge before, during and after class. That was the amount of fun we had all the time. Not forgetting the silent sound of the fan during lessons. I guess that's the 4A trademark huh? And many thanks to Mr Pang for being a great maths cum civics teacher who told us to sing the anthem loudly ! Also Mr Ee who taught us to time our greetings by initiating the bow with a "1,2,3, Good morning Class". Fun and laughter aside, I have truly learnt the meaning of friendship, compassion and integrity. I still remembered how we helped each other when we are in a sort of trouble like when teck boon was injured in the eyelid. Whilst many of us have gotten to the same JC-VJC, I would express my thanks to Alvin who had been a great companion during the 4 years of being classmates with you. Lessons are never fun without you! Thanks ! My thanks also go out to the other buddies that went to other colleges! Life would never have been the same without you guys, Thanks !
Finally, this is the end of another chapter in my life. A last thanks to VS and I hope things will still improve from now on. Thanks ! I quote from a fellow Victorian :
"Inside of VS we are proud of Victoria. Outside of VS, we are the pride of Victoria."
Victoria in Singapore,
there are other schools we know.
Victoria is something more,
the school that watched us grow.
For here we've learnt and striven too,
and played the sportsman game,
Victoria, we give to you, the honour that you claim.
Victoria, thy sons are we,
and we will not forget.
Victoria, thy triumphs see,
and victories we shared yet.
For others came before and went,
and carried to the world,
Victoria, and our intent,
to keep her flag unfurled ~
